Melbourne manages Twitter domainsOnline services provider Melbourne IT has landed a two-year contract to manage Twitter's domain name portfolio for an undisclosed sum. Under the deal, Melbourne IT will provide its portfolio management service, giving the social networking site the ability to renew existing domain names and new name registrations. The contract will also provide Twitter with secure access to an online portal to track orders and manage critical domains.ASG posts big gainsASX-listed IT integrator ASG Group has reported a strong 25 per cent increase in net profit, rising to more than $130 million for the financial year ending June 30. Earnings before tax amounted to $20.4 million, a 25 per cent increase on the previous year. ASG managing director Geoff Lewis says his company's success is due to ongoing investment in developing and maintaining technology and methods. Lewis says ASG has a strong cash position and low debt.Acer notebooks tocome with Next GTelstra has joined with Acer to provide notebooks embedded with Next G wireless broadband. The models include the Aspire One 10-inch netbook and the Aspire 4810T, which will be available through selected T[life] stores. The embedded laptops will give customers the ability to browse the web, manage digital content and send and receive emails. The devices will be available for free upfront on a $39 data plan, plus monthly notebook repayments that start from $30.38 per month over 24 months.
